1-3/4” Molded FRP Door

FRP doors or Fiberglass Personnel Doors

We designed Weiland fiberglass (FRP) personnel doors to be the best in the world. The attributes that best define this product are Weiland’s FiberShell™ and CleanCor technologies. Weiland FiberShell™ technology is our way of building an FRP door panel. Unlike competitors who press laminate FRP sheets to a core with bonding agents, our door panel is molded all at once, with continuous fiberglass wrapping the core material. Through this process, We have created a longer-lasting product that also prevents harborage along the edge of the door. FiberShell™ technology also yields a product with a fiberglass thickness that is 50% thicker than the industry standard.

Weiland CleanCor™ technology is literally at the center of all Weiland doors. The core material of all Weiland FRP personnel doors is inorganic, insulating, and completely void-free from the foam core to the hardware backing material. The resin injection process fills any void in the mold, making our panel the most hygienic in the industry.

Weiland curates hardware for harsh environments and pre-installs most hardware at the factory. When the door is shipped, it is pre-hung in the frame and ready to install upon delivery.

Architectural Details

Size

1-3/4″ thick doors are readily available in standard 3×7′ or 4×8′ sizes, and as single or double doors. Custom sizes (smaller or larger) are available – consult with Weiland.

Gelcoat

Premium 25-mil gelcoat is molded into our fiberglass doors, chemically bonding with the underlying fiberglass resins. This exterior protects against corrosion, and provides a highly-cleanable surface. Most customers opt for UV resistant white doors, however gray or custom gel coat colors are available. Consult with Weiland for advice.

FiberShell™ Technology

Most FRP door manufacturers construct doors using fiberglass “plates” or “skins” laminated to a stile and rail. Weiland stands apart from all other doors on the market, by being the only door molded all at once. The front, back, and sides are formed at once through an advanced close-molded (RTM) process, meaning that the door is a solid structure of fiberglass. Measuring .188″ thick on the face and nearly .375″ thick on the edges. Weiland’s fiberglass exterior is the thickest of any door in the industry.

Frames

Weiland offers multiple frame options, including 16-ga stainless steel frames, and solid molded (FRP) solid core fiberglass frames with FiberShell™ technology. Stainless steel frames are available in 304 or 316 alloys, with a #4 brush finish. Multiple stainless steel frame styles exist, including solid/welded frames for concrete walls (typically 5-3/4″ deep). Weiland also offers a split-jamb frame to sandwich over a varying thickness of IMP walls or a combo wall. This option is very popular with thermal contractors. Molded fiberglass frames are available in 4″ depths as well if extra thermal considerations or hygiene is required. Please consult with Weiland on requirements and recommendations.

CleanCor™ Technology

Weiland manufactures food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing doors and windows. The core of every Weiland door is void-free and utilizes only synthetic materials that provide mitigating moisture insulation. Any other option would be less-than-acceptable for Weiland customers.

Vision Panels

Weiland offers two vision panel materials for fiberglass doors: Fiberglass and Stainless Steel. The fiberglass vision panel is ultra-clean, frameless and flush to the door surface on one side. All fiberglass vision panels are currently half-lights approximately 20’’ x 30’’. Weiland also stocks multiple sizes of stainless steel vision panel frames and can special order any custom size. We provide abrasion resistant polycarbonate glazing in most applications (which is much more durable and chemical resistant than standard Lexan), and can also provide insulated, tempered, heated and safety coated glass, depending on the environment. Learn more about glazing options here.

Factory Mounted Hardware

Weiland stocks a sizable inventory of commercial-grade one door hardware. Weiland curates hardware options based on durability and corrosion resistance in wash-down environments; however, every brand and model is available to our customers. We can recommend hardware that offers both quality and value. Over 98% of our doors are shipped pre-hung in the frame with the hardware pre-mounted. This process helps control quality and makes our doors ready for quick installation while also eliminating last-minute surprises on the job site. These include missing hardware, wrong preps, poor fit-ups, and ensures a quality product and positive door experience.
